Julie Vanbeckevoort

Julie Vanbeckevoort (°1998, Hasselt) started her musical studies in the Conservatory for Music in Hasselt at the age of 10. She immediately was a promising student in the cello class of Rudy Froyen. In June 2016, she played her final exam on the cello, for which she was awarded the price of the ‘Roode Roos’ for receiving the highest score in the year 2015-2016. Eager to enhance her technical skills and to broaden her musical knowledge, she attended master classes for cello and chamber music given by Jan Baerts, Lei Wang, Troels Svane, Gustav Rivinius, Conradin Brotbek, David Pia, Markus Fleck, Roel Dieltiens, Martijn Vink, Amy Norrington and Steven Isserlis.

Julie studied at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp under the guidance of Justus Grimm from 2016 until 2022. On top of that she pursued an intensive training given by Hans Mannes. Currently she continues her studies with Conradin Brotbek at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. In addition to her pedagogical studies and cello lessons, she specialises in historical performance practice on the baroque cello and the cello piccolo with Alexandre Foster, Job ter Haar and Meret Lüthi. Her aim is to continue improving her technical skills, to augment her knowledge of music and continue to induce a ‘fascination in’ and ‘love for’ music in an audience. Julie plays on a cello by Honoré Derazey (Mirecourt) from 1840-45.
